It was a busy day for the Mountains division of the Tashkent Browncoats. The riders were up at seven to prepare for the king stage of the Race of the Minutemen. Anthony started the day as the number nine of the GC, but he dropped to the 10th place with his thirteenth time. He was granted some rest, while the other five riders of his team went to Luxembourg for the start of Wiltz-Kiischpelt, only 46 minutes after the depart of Littleton-Mt. Jefferson.
However, the shortness of the break didn't prevent the Browncoats, now with Calvin Ticossi instead of Anthony, to demonstrate their top form. Diego Azaria catapulted Jacenty Niezgoda into the streets of Kiischpelt, and the little gap they had was more than enough for Niezgoda, who outsprinted his competitors with ease. Azaria himself finished 9th. This catapulted us into Third Division, which is our debut. We immedeatly signed up for Zyte GP (Omg an actual classic which might get won by a downhiller?!) and Kangaroo Tour (more for shits and giggles, and because Aristarkh is bored ever since we became a DH team).
Later that day, the riders flew back to the US to ride Mt. Washington ITT. The major part of the team did so in a leisurely pace to cool down from two races on one day. Anthony however had dropped just outside the top-9, so he had a job to do. Just like the rest of the tour, he rode quite unnoticed, just behind the big stars. He finished eight, which brought him the 6th place in the GC.
Obviously, I'm very happy with these results, I couldn't have imagined getting into Third Division two months after switching to downhilling, and the fact that our first homegrown rider has ridden two top-9 GC's in one season, which we also had never really tried with an actual climbing team.
Things are looking up for the Browncoats, and oh my has that been different.
